As part of our commitment to take action on climate change, we are in the process of developing two strategies to support residents in making choices that will lower energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

1) Community Low-Carbon Mobility Strategy for Electric Vehicles (EVs) and E-Bikes

  • Transportation is the biggest source of GHG emissions in Kelowna. While the priority remains shifting people to other things like walking, biking and transit, the automobile will be around for the foreseeable future. The City is looking for your input on what would encourage you to switch to technologies like EVs as a way of reducing travel emissions

2) Community Energy Retrofit Strategy

  • The energy we use to heat, cool and power our buildings accounts for 40% of our GHG emissions. We want to know what barriers prevent you from lowering your energy use and what might motivate you to incorporate energy-saving upgrades into your home or business.

Consultation on this project has now concluded.

Through two surveys and a series of focus groups, we sought to better understand what actions we can take to support your choices for a low carbon lifestyle!
