Bike to Work &School Week encourages residents to use a bicycle for everyday transportation. Events are held during the last week of May each year, as well as one week in the fall and one day during the winter. Participants can sign up either as individuals or as part of a workplace team, led by a team leader.
In 2019, more than 2,300 Central Okanagan residents registered for the event and traveled 91,500 kilometres by bike, saving nearly 20,000 kilograms of greenhouse gases.
Please continue to share feedback in the forum below. We will consider further input as we plan for future Bike to Work & School Weeks in the Central Okanagan.
Sustainable Transportation Partnership of the Central Okanagan (STPCO)
Bike to Work & School Week is supported by the Sustainable Transportation Partnership of the Central Okanagan (STPCO), a formal partnership of the City of West Kelowna, Districts of Lake Country and Peachland, Westbank First Nation, City of Kelowna, and the Regional District of Central Okanagan. The organization coordinates the regional delivery of sustainable transportation programs and projects in support of common regional policy, plans and interests (economic, social and environmental). The STPCO also provides a formal forum for discussion among elected officials, senior and technical staff, as well as stakeholders and the general public.
