Raymer Elementary School is taking part in a School Travel Planning project that encourages more students walk, cycle or otherwise use active transportation for the school journey wherever possible.

The benefits of more students making the school journey on foot or by bike include:

  • Increased safety
  • Improved health
  • Arriving alert and ready to learn
  • Less stress, greater happiness
  • Less pollution
  • Reduced traffic congestion at and around the school

Through the School Travel Planning program, parents, teachers and your school's administration staff have been working with municipal, school district and public health officials to deal with the issues that prevent students from using active transportation.

This survey is a follow up to one conducted in 2015. Your feedback will help evaluate the performance of safety measures and routes put in place as a result of the previous survey.

Every family’s input is important to the success of this project.

Please provide input in the following ways:

1. Survey

Please take five minutes with your eldest child who attends this school to complete the survey by Tuesday, November 30.

2. Stories

Provide additional details about the journey to and from school and add ideas on how to encourage students to walk or cycle to school.
