Heart

As the world grapples with extended periods of isolation and physical distancing measures due to COVID-19, we want to remind people that social connections and support are still very important, especially during this difficult time. We encourage everyone to find creative ways to connect with neighbours in whatever form resonates with individuals and the communities of which they are a part while maintaining physical distance.

    Our Good Neighbour

To make our building safer during the covid crisis, our neighbour has organized and managed a team of volunteers to do twice daily cleaning/disinfecting of common areas within our building. This is the definition of a good neighbour.

    Above & Beyond!

Our neighbour has gone above and beyond during this recent physical distancing to communicate with the neighbors, provide information, and also organize shopping. This, if you can imagine, is a daunting task. To ask about 600 homes what they need and shop once a week for them. Most people don't even begin to imagine being able to do it, yet she made it look like a simple task!

She collects the orders, does the shopping and delivers it all, topping it up with a smile from the distance. Neighbors then e-transfer their portion to them. All in the attempt to... Continue reading

    Our Kind Neighbour

Our neighbour takes care of our house whenever we go out of town. He also is ready and willing to come and take a look at whatever is not working around our home. We really appreciate his kindness.

    Neighbourhood Food Drive

    by community, 3 months ago

Thanks to our community Facebook page, our neighbourhood was able to organize a food drive for the Kelowna Food Bank over the weekend. People were able to drop off donations into a bin at the end of the designated home's driveway each day before it was brought in for the night and then put back out the next day. No donation was too small and by the end on the weekend, we had collected the back of an SUV full of non-perishables including diapers, canned good, beverages and more for those facing food insecurity during these challenging times.

    Always thinking of others

Our neighbour is just one of those rare souls that is always thinking about others especially the kids in our horse riding community. She has 4 children of her own and yet always finds the time to offer help, coaching, advice and hands on experience to our daughter and to other kids in the community. While she can't currently have others riding at her property with the COVID-19 situation, she still helps out where she can by text and the occasional in person 2 meters apart conversation. However busy she gets with her own very busy life, she still manages... Continue reading

    Amazing Neighbour!

Our neighbour welcomes new neighbours to our apartment building and gets to know everyone who moves in. Several times a week, she cleans the shared laundry rooms, including buying Swiffers herself to clean the lint traps and steam vents on the dryers. Throughout the week, you can spot her cleaning the building front door with Windex and paper towel. Ever since this pandemic began, she has taken it upon herself to disinfect all common doorknobs and elevator buttons at least twice per day. She keeps an eye on the neighborhood out her bedroom window, which overlooks the street, and reports... Continue reading

    Community Minded Neighbour

Our neighbour has always been the one who reached out to us and fellow neighbours with suggestions such as a neighborhood get-together, creation of a community farm and most recently applying and heading the neighborhood beautification project. She is a kind, positive and strong advocate for a better neighborhood.

Helping a neighbour whose wife suffered a stroke

    by kmyrah, 4 months ago

A good friend's mother recently suffered a stroke and the same day she was admitted to care, her family was not able to visit because of the pandemic. Her dad was alone in the house very worried about his wife and also very lonely being at home on his own. The 'old Glenmore' community organized a meal plan for the husband to provide nourishing meals and some social distancing conversation at drop off and pick up of meals/plates, they phoned him to check in, they picked up grocery items for him when going for their own families and were a... Physical Distancing Can Be Fun!

    by jbob, 4 months ago

We have lived in a wonderful neighbourhood for almost 6 years with many very social neighbours. Isolation can be draining, depressing and somewyat damaging to the soul so we decided to have bi-weekly block parties with physical distancing! Everyone's spirits have been uplifted and we look forward to these gatherings with physical distancing. On April 25th we are having a "Black Tie" event where everyone is encouraged to wear their pearls with a tank top or a top hat with cargo shorts or... Who says that physical distancing can't be fun!!

We end the evening at 7pm with a big... Continue reading

    Birthday surprise

    by Lucy, 4 months ago

My 5 year old son has been missing his friends and classmates, especially as they all had to miss his birthday. However, the day of his birthday, we went for a walk and passing by our neighbours house, he saw a big "Happy Birthday" message for him in the window. It absolutely brightened his day. We have truly wonderful neighbours.
