Our Kelowna as we move: 2040 Transportation Master Plan
Steering the future of transportation in Kelowna
The long-range Transportation Master Plan (TMP) will identify the transportation investments needed in Kelowna over the next 20 years to create a safe, cost-effective and sustainable transportation network.
The planning process has included an assessment of the existing transportation system, including roadway, cycling, pedestrian and transit networks. It's considered existing travel patterns and behaviour, future travel conditions, estimates for changing technologies and the Official Community Plan's future land use assumptions. The plan will also include an implementation approach and evaluation tools.

Vision & goals
Our Imagine Kelowna community vision helped shaped the draft 2040 Transportation Master Plan vision and goals. These vision and goals were then refined during Phase 1 public engagement. Council endorsed Imagine Kelowna in July 2018, and the community vision has guided the development of long-term plans such as the Transportation Master Plan and Official Community Plan.
TMP vision
Kelowna will be a city with vibrant urban centres where people and places are conveniently connected by diverse transportation options that help us transition from our car-centric culture.
TMP goals
Improve safety | Protect the environment | Enhance travel affordability |
Foster a growing community | Enhance urban centres | Improve health |
Optimize travel times | Support livable communities | Promote inclusive transportation |
Improve travel choices | Be innovative and flexible | Ensure value for public investment |
